nguisse nare
Our 2nd year of Nguisse Nare and the 1st of 2 releases. This coffee has sweet and vibrant fruits and extremely enjoyable clean silky cup. Another high elevation Ethiopian!
This sublime coffee reminds us of sweet Grape Jelly, Blackberry, Blood Orange, Acaí and warm tropical Pinapple
FARM
Sitting atop a ridge at 2300 MASL in Bombe, Nguisse Nare’s 10 hectare farm “Setame” is planted with variety 74158 intercropped with taro and sweet potato. With his two other farms—one in Kokose, one in Tiburo—he produces natural and anaerobic coffees using his own cherry as well as cherry collected from around 60 of his neighbors. Nguisse bought the farm four years ago, with a strict focus on quality. He floats his cherry before drying them slowly on raised beds over 20 days.
74158
Gibirinna 74110 is one of the most planted varietals in Ethiopia. In 1974, The mother tree of this varietal was selected by JARC (Jimma Agricultural Research Centre) in the Metu providence because of its Coffee Berry Disease resistance. In 1979, 71458 was released after JARC's R&D approval and was planted at 1500-2100 masl.
We suggest letting the coffee rest for 2-3wks.
