BOURBON WASHED
The first official release of a Rwandan Coffee for Botany Rd comes the Kinini Cooperative. Having visited Rwanda 15yrs ago, it brings us happiness to be showcasing coffee from the beautiful Country.
This Sweet and Unique Rwandan coffee has notes of Apricot, Fresh Citrus, Black Tea, Butterscotch and Brown Sugar sweetness.
"Kinini" means, literally, 'this big thing right here'. It is the name of the collaboration of cooperatives seeking to pool their efforts to improve their lots. 85% of the members are women. Kinini is also the name of a washing station and cooperative located in Kinini town, which collects from the neighboring villages of Tumba and Mageragere.
Kinini was only started in 2017, but has already been producing excellent results. Started by Jacquie Turner and Malcolm Clear, they aim to provide opportunities to farmers in the region, through support in agriculture and access to market. Jacquie and Malcolm have worked with development in Rwanda for many years, initially founding a school for orphans of the country’s brutal genocide, before finding this opportunity in coffee.
Kinini Cooperative also plays a vital role in supporting local communities by investing in education, healthcare, and infrastructure development, making this coffee not only a delightful experience for consumers but also a source of positive social impact.
We suggest letting the coffee rest for 2wks.
