NICARAGUA WASHED

FINCAS MIERISCH ORANGE BOURBON

Orange Bourbon is a varietal we are always on the look out for. We love a great Orange Bourbon as much as we love a Pink Bourbon. This example is a very clean and delightful Washed coffee. There is a nice balance, not overly citrus, an enjoyable sweetness, smooth and super easy to drink.

This is our first purchase from La Finca and Fincas Mierisch. The quality of the coffee was a pleasant surprise with very low quakers and consistency.

Fincas Mierisch is a company run by 3rd, 4th, and 5th generation coffee producers. Erwin Jr, Eleane, and Steve, the 4th generation, propelled their coffee, and Nicaraguan coffee in general, into the international spotlight. Through their involvement in organizing, judging, and participating in the Cup of Excellence program since the early to mid 2000’s, they learned all the hard work it takes to producer high caliber coffee. Their commitment to quality has not wavered since.

Orange Bourbon is a hybridization of Red and Yellow Bourbon first found and developed in El Salvador. Another natural mutation of the Red Bourbon. The cherries of this plant are a bright peachy pink, which is why in some parts of the world it is called the Pink Bourbon. It is a rare variety but quite resistant to rust.

This coffee reminds us of sweet Citrus Fruits, Tangerine, Orange, Grape, & Caramel.

We suggest letting the coffee rest for 2-3wks.
