This Geisha has delicate Floral notes of Jasmine, Bergamot, Mandarin, Vanilla, Orange Blossom and delicate Citrus Acidity and a tea-like body.
PRODUCER
The roots of Franceschi Coffee go back to the 1800s, when the Franceschi family emigrated from Corsica (France), to Panama. Over generations, they were involved in farming, cattle ranching, and ship building. In 1950, Carmen Franceschi suggested starting a coffee farm with her husband Efrain, an idea that led to the creation of Carmen Estate, a farm we all know and love. The Franceschi family's name is synonymous with the rich, volcanic soils of the Chiriqui province. For decades, they cultivated the world-renowned Carmen Estate, a farm that became a benchmark for Panamanian specialty coffee.
The exceptional quality produced on this land is internationally recognized. Recently, the family made the decision to sell Carmen Estate, embarking on a new path to create a more intimate, family-focused farm.
This new project allows them to channel generations of expertise into smaller, meticulously cared-for lots, continuing their tradition of working in harmony with the land to produce coffees that are a true expression of their pristine environment.
PROCESS
This particular lot is a classic washed Geisha, a processing method that allows the varietal’s intrinsic character to express itself with exceptional clarity and precision. The cherries are carefully depulped to remove the outer skin and fruit, then fermented in pristine water to gently break down the remaining mucilage before being thoroughly washed and dried.
The result is a cup defined by purity and elegance. Expect the hallmark Geisha profile: an aromatic bouquet of florals — jasmine and orange blossom — layered with luminous citrus acidity and a silky, tea-like body.
VARIETAL
The Geisha Varietal is a very rare and highly prized variety of Arabica, originating from Gori Gesha forest in Ethiopia. Famous for its exceptional floral and sweet flavour profile, often compared to jasmine and tea. The varietals distinctiveness, delicate nature, lower yield and high demand contribute to its elevated price in the specialty coffee market.
We suggest letting the coffee rest for 2-4wks.
