Layo Teraga
We first tasted this lovely Washed Ethiopian 3 years ago and was lucky enough to grab last years and this years lots. It's a great year for Guj coffees and this Layo Teraga is gorgeous example of the bright florals notes that come from this region! We've been enjoying this on filter, more florals than the Getachew Zekele, but just as tasty!
Washed perfection reminiscent of sweet Orange Blossom , Lavender, Bergamot, Melons, Kumquat, Praline, and Brown Sugar.
Founded in 1976, the Layo Teraga cooperative provides market access for its smallholder members that would otherwise not have existed in Guji, where prices for coffee have historically been lower than neighbouring Gedeo or Sidama zones because of this lack of market access. Located in northern Uraga in the Guji zone, the 1841 smallholder members of the cooperative grow coffee in gardens around their homes in semi-forested environments at staggeringly high elevations of 2250 MASL.
We suggest letting the coffee rest for 2-3wks.
